Unifying Sibling Support in Kenya
Jackline and Kevin are siblings and Special Olympics Youth Leader from Kenya who are leading a Youth Innovation Project aimed at spreading awareness about Special Olympics and widening the support network of Youth Leaders in their area. Through this project, Jackline and Kevin will organize 3 workshops to target various community members and encourage them to continue their active participation after the workshops end. Topics for the workshops will include sibling engagement, social-emotional support for siblings, and Unified Leadership.
Jackline and Kevin hope to engage 90 community members through their project. In the first workshop, Jackline and Kevin will focus on siblings only, the second will be open to athletes and their siblings, and the last will be focused on parent/guardian involvement in Special Olympics. The topics covered will vary, but the network of support being built is stronger by having multiple groups and perspectives. By thinking broadly and inviting multiple voices to the conversation, Jackline and Kevin are inspiring the unified generation to empower those around them to join.
