Unified Sports Skills Development: A Cross Canada Virtual Challenge

Unified Sports Skills Development: A Cross Canada Virtual Challenge

Adelaide and Tianna are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Canada who are leading a Youth Innovation Project aimed at engaging athletes with and without intellectual disabilities through an online basketball camp and competition. Through this project, Adelaide & Tianna will organize a Unified Sports competition as well as various trainings focused on sports skills and health and wellness. Adelaide & Tianna will set up Unified Pairs from across the country who will practice together and later compete in the final basketball tournament.

Over the course of six months, Adelaide & Tianna hope to engage eight Unified pairs and create two new Unified Schools. Through including schools from all over Canada in their project, Adelaide and Tianna are inspiring the Unified Generation to think innovatively and large scale to bring inclusion to as many people as they can even amid a global pandemic.
