Unified Basketball Creates Inclusion On and Off the Court
Cornelius is a Special Olympics Youth Leader in Ghana with plans to improve inclusion in his community through basketball. Cornelius’s Youth Innovation Project will bring inclusion through Unified Sports to schools in Ghana and engage youth to be leaders for inclusion in their communities.
Cornelius recognizes the power of sport to bring people together and hopes that Unified Basketball will create strong friendships amongst youth with and without intellectual disability through their shared experience on the court. He believes that young people can use sport to build confidence and raise awareness for broader issues of inclusion concerning people living with intellectual disabilities.
Cornelius is excited to be part of the Unified Generation in Ghana and around the world, a generation that is acting in “the interest of persons with intellectual disability, creating inclusion and helping to make a difference in the world.”
