Inclusive Virtual Fun in Zimbabwe
David and Kelvin are Special Olympics Youth Leaders who are leading a Youth Innovation Project to create an inclusive platform for youth with and without intellectual disabilities to engage with one another. David and Kelvin are inspired by the lack of virtual mediums that are currently exist for this type of meaningful engagement during a time as critical as during the COVID-19 pandemic. David and Kelvin will host weekly sessions with influential guests that will share their experiences with how they are raising awareness about the importance of a Unified Generation in their respective areas. Afterwards, the Youth Leaders plan to spark intentional conversations among the participants in order to learn and grow from the talks as much as possible to further spread their messages of inclusion.
Over the course of 3 months, David and Kelvin intend on engaging hundreds of new Youth Leaders. The Youth Leaders hope that this project will inspire others to share their own personal experiences with how they are being advocates in their own communities. Ultimately, David and Kelvin see their Youth Innovation Project as an opening door leading to larger campaigns, shaped by intentional choices of inclusion. The end result of this project will undoubtedly create lasting connections that will play a key part in cementing a Unified Generation in Zimbabwe.
