E-Gaming in Hellas (Greece)
Charalambos and Aris are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Hellas (Greece) who are leading a Youth Innovation Project to connect youth through gaming in an intentionally inclusive manner during the COVID-19 pandemic. Charalambos and Aris are motivated to conduct this project due to the lack of inclusive leisure activities and ways to connect that are virtual.Through this project, Charalambos and Aris will foster a platform where youth with and without intellectual disabilities will be able to meaningful connect, play games, and see one another virtually as they build lasting relationships.. The Youth Leaders hope that this will be representative of the fortitude and resilience of the Unified Generation.
Over the course of 3 months, Charalambos and Aris intend to engage 15 Youth Leaders with the inclusive planning process of the project. The Youth Leaders recognize that there will be some training necessary for everyone involved to adjust to a new virtual platform for this kind of engagement, but Charalambos and Aris are hopeful that this will go smoothly since many youth have had to be very adaptable and fluid during this time period. Towards the end of the project, they plan to evaluate the results and feedback to grow depending on the needs of their community. In doing so, Charalambos and Aris are contributing to the sustainable growth of the Unified Generation in Hellas.
